Japan decries alleged rape by US troops on Okinawa

Japan’s defense minister said Wednesday he was deeply concerned by the alleged rape of a woman on the island of Okinawa by two U.S. military servicemen and suggested the U.S. take more measures to assure such crimes do not recur.

“This is a very serious crime,” Defense Minister Satoshi Morimoto told reporters. Morimoto said the case follows another sexual assault in August, and he indicated he was considering discussing the matter with U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta.


Bangalore gang rape victim stands by her complaint

The National Law School of India University student who was gangraped on Saturday night has reiterated the allegations she made in her police complaint.
The 21-year-old victim told TOI from an undisclosed location on Monday: “All points stated by me in the FIR are true. I don’t want to make any change.”
The victim’s male friend said he can identify some of the attackers. “I think I know them. I can identify some of them, if not all.”
The friend was with her when she was whisked away by the gang of 7-8 drunk men in Bangalore University’s Jnanabharathi campus, adjacent to the NLSIU.

Youth held for raping minor girl in Goa

A 21-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl in Kalay village of Sanguem taluka, about 100 km from Panaji, police said on Monday.

The accused, Manjunath Shinde, who was living in the girl’s neighbourhood, allegedly led her into his room on Sunday by luring her with some food items and raped her there, police said.

Minor raped in Delhi on promise of job

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a transport company owner in the national capital when she approached him in search of a job on Sunday.

According to police, the victim, who has studied up to Class 8, was sexually assaulted by the transporter CM Kashyap on Sunday evening at his office in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh where she approached him in search of a job.

Kidnapped girl found, family alleges gang-rape

A six-year-old girl, who was kidnapped from the local Ramlila ground by unidentified people, has been found, with the victim’s family alleging that she was gang-raped.

The girl, a daughter of a labourer, had been missing since Sunday night. She was found abandoned near Devi Lal Chowk on Monday, police said.

Police have so far registered a case of kidnapping against unidentified people, but the girl’s family and some people belonging to their community have alleged that she was gang-raped. They have demanded that a case of rape be registered against those accused in kidnapping and raping her.

Four class 8 boys assault 12-year-old girl

Four class 8 students atPerumalpudur panchayat union middle schoolnear Madathukulam in Tirupur district, were arrested on Monday evening for misbehaving with a class 6 girl last Friday.

Police said the four students aged about 13, hailing from Perumalpudur were playing at the school campus on October 12. Around 3.45 pm, a 12-year-old girl of the same school had gone to her classroom to pick up her school bag. When she came out of the classroom, there were injuries all over her body and her dress was to rn.

Gulfreturnee allegedly sold his wife for Rs 6,000 to a broker in Korutla mandal of Karimnagar district. The incident came to light here on Monday after police booked a case against the accused following a complaint from the victim’s son.

The accused, Medula Rajender, 42, of Malyala village in Chandurthi mandal sold his wife Medula Ammayi, 36, to the broker on October 13 to meet his liquor expenses. Daily wager Rajender found it hard to buy liquor and struck a deal with the broker to sell his wife.



Haryana khap blames consumption of chowmein for rapes

A khap panchayat in Haryana’s Jind district has blamed consumption of chowmein behind the growing incidents ofrapes in the state saying it leads to hormonal imbalance.

“To my understanding, consumption of fast food contributes to such incidents. Chowmein leads to hormonal imbalance evoking an urge to indulge in such acts,” said Jitender Chhatar, a resident of Jind’s Chhatar village and thua khap panchayat leader.
